ProxmarkPro - Identifying Unknown Tags

April 02, 2019

This blog post covers the steps of how to determine an Unknown card with a ProxmarkPro. For this post we will be using a HID and Mifare Ultralight tag as our examples.

What you will need:

  • ProxmarkPro
  • HID Tag (Unknown LF Tag)
  • Mifare Ultralight (Unknown HF Tag)

If you know what type (Low/High Frequency) of tag you are working with connect the corresponding antenna.

Low Frequency

1. In this example we will be using a Low Frequency Antenna.

2. With your LF Antenna connected navigate to the LF menu.

3. With your tag in field select the Identify option. The HID tag will be identified and displayed on the LCD with the UID.

Note: From here you can Save, Clone, or Replay the HID tag. You can also use this command for other LF Tags such as a EM4100 tag.

High Frequency

1. In this example we will be using a High Frequency Antenna.

2. With your HF Antenna connected navigate to the HF menu.

3. With your tag in field select the Identify option. The Mifare Ultralight tag will be identified and displayed on the LCD with the UID.

Note: From here you can Save or Replay the Mifare Ultralight tag. You can also use this command for other HF Tags such as Mifare 1K and 4K.
